Training & Consulting

Equip your team.
Expand what’s possible.

Your team knows how to lead exercise. Help them create experiences where older adults feel seen, discover what they’re capable of, connect with others, and want to return.

AGEnts of Movement partners with gym owners, managers, and leadership teams at senior living communities, recreation centers, and fitness centers to bring a human approach to physical activity.

01 / STAFF WORKSHOP

Movement Experience Design

From Principles to Practice
Full workshop · 4 hours

Move beyond exercise selection to explore the experience people are having. This interactive workshop gives fitness, recreation, activity, and wellness staff practical ways to build confidence, choice, appropriate challenge, and belonging into a session.

  • Recognize abilities, interests, and goals before making assumptions about age.
  • Use language that supports autonomy and respond thoughtfully to “I can’t,” “I’m too old,” or fear of falling.
  • Offer meaningful choices and challenges that help participants build evidence of what they can do.
  • Create opportunities for fun, friendship, and contribution.
  • Apply the ideas to a real class, participant conversation, or program situation.

Includes a digital copy of The Modern Guide to Movement Leadership for Older Adults for each registered participant, plus planning and implementation resources.

Available in person or virtually. The four-hour workshop can be split into two two-hour virtual sessions. Shorter, focused versions can be arranged.

02 / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT

Consulting + Training

Understand the experience.
Focus the learning.

For organizational leaders who want staff development grounded in what is happening in their programs. Together, we look at the participant experience, identify strengths and opportunities, and shape training around the changes that matter most.

  • Begin with a leadership conversation about your goals, participants, and staff needs.
  • Review agreed program materials and observe selected sessions in person or through recordings.
  • Hear staff perspectives and identify practical priorities.
  • Deliver customized training and clear recommendations for leadership.

For teams that want help putting the approach into everyday practice, an extended implementation partnership can add staff coaching, leadership check-ins, and reflection on progress. A focused leadership consultation is also available for a specific question or decision.

the field forward.

Book a presentation for your conference, association, leadership meeting, or staff learning day. Topics can be adapted for a talk, interactive workshop, or live virtual session.

Ageism in Physical Activity Spaces

Examine how class names, language, expectations, and program design can communicate assumptions about age. Explore practical ways to see ability and possibility before limitation.

Social Connection & Fall Resilience

Explore the relationship between social connection, confidence, and continued participation. Consider how movement leaders can build belonging while supporting a broader approach to fall resilience.

Age Isn’t a Program Design Strategy

Rethink what makes a movement program relevant. Design around participants’ abilities, interests, and desired experiences rather than relying on an age label to define the offering.

From Exercise to Experience

What makes a class something people look forward to? Explore how choice, meaningful challenge, play, and connection can turn an activity on the schedule into an experience worth returning to.

Everyday Parkour: Building Fall Resilience Through Play

Learn how to support confidence, balance, and stability through parkour-inspired movement skills, fun, play, and games. Explore appropriately scaled challenges that help older adults practice adapting to everyday environments and build trust in their movement abilities.

Rethinking Falls: From Avoidance to Preparedness

Expand the conversation to include physical skills, psychological preparedness, social support, and continued participation. Consider the movement professional’s role in helping people stay engaged in the activities they value.
